Die GRIMMWELT Kassel, stellt das größte Ausstellungshaus zu dem Lebenswerk der Brüder Grimm dar. Darüber hinaus findet man eine Vielzahl von historischen Objekten, modernen Kunstwerken und Mit-Mach-Installationen. Zusätzlich ermöglichen es spielerische und informative Zugänge, neue Perspektiven auf das Leben der berühmten Märchensammler und Sprachforscher zu entwickeln. Die öffentlich zugängliche Dachterrasse ermöglicht einen Ausblick auf die Südstadt Kassels bis hin zum Herkules. Am 11. Mai eröffnen wir um 18:30 Uhr das #galeriefest11 auf der Dachterrasse und freuen uns euch dort zu sehen. 

Zusätzlich zu den Dauerausstellungen könnt ihr im Mai ebenfalls die Arbeiten 'Floor Piece I' von Cem A. und 'Go to hell for heavens sake' von Husein Bastouni zum #galeriefest11 sehen.

The GRIMMWELT Kassel represents the largest exhibition house on the life's work of the Brothers Grimm. Furthermore, one can find a variety of historical objects, modern works of art, and participatory installations. In addition, playful and informative approaches allow visitors to develop new perspectives on the lives of famous fairy tale collectors and linguists. The publicly accessible roof terrace offers a view of Kassel's southern city all the way to Hercules Monument. On May 11, we will open the #galeriefest11 on the roof terrace at 6:30 pm and look forward to seeing you there. 

In addition to the permanent exhibitions, you can also see the works 'Floor Piece I' by Cem A. and 'Go to hell for heavens sake' by Husein Bastouni for #galeriefest11.

Cem A.

Floor Piece I

Cem A. ist Künstler und Kurator mit einem Background in Anthropologie. Er ist bekannt als Betreiber der Kunst-Meme-Seite @freezemagazine. Seit dessen Gründung im Jahr 2019 hat sich @freezemagazine zu einem Werkzeug für kreative Kollaborationen zwischen Cem und befreundeten Künstlerinnen, Forscherinnen und Organisationen entwickelt. Oft durch eine hyper-reflexive Linse, erforscht seine Arbeit Themen wie Überleben und Entfremdung in der Kunstwelt.

Cem A. is an artist and curator with a background in anthropology. He is known for running the art meme page @freezemagazine. Since its inception in 2019, @freezemagazine has become a tool for creative collaborations between Cem and fellow artists, researchers and organisations. His work explores topics such as survival and alienation in the art world, often through a hyper-reflexive lens.

Husein Bastouni

Go to hell for heavens sake 

Mein Name ist Husein Bastonui und ich studiere Animation an der Kunsthochschule Kassel. Ich wuchs am Rande der syrischen Hauptstadt Damaskus auf und schon in frühen Jahren war ich von Kunst fasziniert und zeichnete viel, vor allem die Cartoons, die ich damals mochte.

Aufgrund des Krieges musste ich 2014 mein Heimatland verlassen und lebe seit 2015 in Deutschland. Hier setzte ich meine Bildungslaufbahn fort und bin seit 2020 an der Universität Kassel eingeschrieben. Über die Jahre habe ich eine Faszination für Animation entwickelt, da sie eine Kombination von Illustration und bewegtem Bild darstellt, und der Fantasie dabei keine Grenzen gesetzt sind.

In meiner Arbeit setze ich mich unter anderem mit meiner Vergangenheit auseinander und die Themen Krieg und Flucht stehen dabei häufig im Zentrum.

My name is Husein Bastonui and I study animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. I grew up on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus and from an early age, I was fascinated by art and drew a lot, especially the cartoons I liked back then.

Due to the war, in 2014 I had to leave my home country and have been living in Germany since 2015. Here I continued my educational career and have been enrolled at the University of Kassel since 2020. Over the years I have developed a fascination for animation, as it is a combination of illustration and moving images, with no limits to the imagination.

One of the things I deal with in my work is my past, where the focus is often on the topics of war and fleeing.
